How could anyone play a whole concert with just finger cymbals? That's a good question. Until you've heard it, it's hard to imagine. Actually, if you can't imagine it, that's perfect - you'll listen with your mind fresh and open. Bells, Himalayan bowls, and gongs are all used in sacred music, sound healing and meditations. Used in a similar way, finger cymbals resonate in the higher octaves. Inspired by the meditative cymbal style of Sufi master Adnan Sarhan, we play solo and duet in arhythmic improvisations, weaving different cymbal voices into rivers of sound and silence. We move as we play, exploring the harmonics between our instruments within the energy and acoustics of each venue, to create a profound, absorbing experience. A concert of zill music is a meditation, a journey; it can be unpredictable, entrancing, evocative, moving, healing, and clearing. Everyone seems to experience it differently.
