Zillfest 2008 

This year's Zillfest schedule began with a full day of workshops in Denver in March, then Albuquerque in June, and next I'll be teaching an intensive for Group ZillWork in Boulder in October: FROM NOISE TO MUSIC - Inspiration & pleasure in the art of playing finger cymbals TOGETHER. This intensive will give you a taste of some of the revolutionary material from The Dancing Cymbalist, transforming your group zillwork.

(Books will be available for sale at all Zillfest events.)

All Zillfest workshops are for all levels of experience, musicians and dancers, beginner to seasoned professional, and all styles of Oriental dance: Cabaret, American Tribal, Ethnic/Folk, Interactive Freestyle and Fusion.

ZILLPOWER: Secrets of clear cymbalism

Learn little things that add up to big improvements in the sound & ease of your zill-playing. Whatever your skill level, be prepared for transformation!


COMMUNION: Finding the sound of One together                     Image
Learn to unify & magnify the energy of your group's zillwork. This workshop will take you beyond unison into the heart of entrainment, where the clamor of many zills transmutes into music. Playing zills together was never this powerful & lovely before - your listeners will be entranced.

 

PLAYING AROUND: Fun with improv skills  

Learn simple ways to improvise together, jamming in this relaxed & playful workshop. Dancers, your musicians will love you for this!

Directions: Take your best route to Boulder & get on 28th St. (Hwy 36). FROM NORTH: look for N. 26th on your left as you pass Violet on your right. It's a dirt road.  Turn left (east) on N. 26th, go past Yarmouth, & BCC is the third building on your left. FROM SOUTH: stay on 28th St. past the Diagonal Hwy (119) to one block north of the light at Jay Rd. Turn right on N. 26th, then same as above.  Park & come in the door on the left side, leave shoes in the foyer & come in & up the stairs.

The closest motel is the Holiday Inn Express, 4777 Broadway, 303-442-6600. It's on the north end of town, on the SW corner of Broadway and Lee Hill, just south of the intersection of Broadway & 28th St.(Hwy 36).


To get to the workshop from there, go east on Lee Hill, turn right on 28th St., then follow directions above "FROM NORTH".
